Good for the right vehicle

I ordered these as a replacement for the stock lug nuts on a 2010 Ford F150. The factory lugs were damaged recently when a impact wrench with socket that was too short for lug nut was used on them causing the tops of the lugs to actually twist in comparison with lower down on the lug nut.Based on my experience with the stock lug nuts for my vehicle, I liked the fact that the Gorilla lugs are heat treated and have a pattern that requires the use of special socket so that not anyone can remove them nor can they use a socket that is too short. I also liked the added side benefit that the socket fit easily over the lugs for the full depth. I had hoped that this ease of use / special socket would encourage installers to use the full length of the socket rather than just the tip or use a socket that is to short for the lug nut. The cost for a Gorilla lug set was also almost 1/4 of the cost to replace all the lug nuts with OEM pieces.I did not like these for two reasons. One is that aesthetically they are smaller than the 7/8 inch lug nuts that would typically found on this thread size so they do not visually fill recessed lug nut holes in a wheel in the same way. This would probably work well where the lug nut has a lot of space around it like in a steel wheel or for airy looking wheels, but doesn't necessarily make a truck wheel look more rugged. The second is the fact that the acorn base was much smaller than the factory lug nuts for the Ford F150. They will probably fit the majority of vehicles with the correct thread size and length, but they do not fully cover the lug seats in the wheel where the original acorn base did. This concerns me as there is not as much bearing surface for the lug nuts to sit. I will most likely not use these for this particular reason, but overall they are of very good quality and I would reccommend them for the right look and vehicle.

These chrome lug nuts look great on my truck and are of the highest quality. I was surprised that they came with a lock which is required to remove/install them, which helps prevent someone from stealing your expensive wheels. Just remember to keep the lock handy (in your glove compartment) for when you need it. I would highly recommend these, you won't be disappointed.
