This Off Camber Fabrications bracket is designed specifically to reinforce the rear door your on JK under the stress of that full size spare. While the bracket remains out of sight, this is one of the most functional pieces you can add to your Jeep to ensure safety. The bracket is designed to take the concentrated leverage from the oversized spare bouncing around on the street or trail and spreads the load over a much larger surface adding strength and security. Heavy duty

Helps spread the tire carrier weight much better than stock nuts. Breaking the soldered nuts inside the tail gate are simple enough to break, I used a PVC pipe for leverage and screwed the supplied m8 bolt most of the way in and just bent in all different directions until I heard a few pops. I coupled this with the Smittybilt oversized tire carrier.

Cheap Security For Your Swing Gate & Spare Tire

If you plan on hanging a larger & heavier offroad tire on the stock JK spare tire swing gate mount, this is an effective & inexpensive solution. The factory welded-on nuts do not provide enough bearing surface & without better load distribution you're at risk of the inside nuts ripping right through the sheet metal of the swing gate, especially if you do much offroad bouncing around. Using the disposable bolts provided, 3 or 4 moderate sideways whacks from different directions, broke the welds. Remove the nuts, install the brackets, reinstall the factory mount & you're good to go.

Great solution

Nice product with great instructions and very low-cost. It is easy to break off the bolt when removing the welded nuts inside the tailgate. Luckily, manufacturer gives you two bolts. I did run into problems with removing them all cleanly. Had to hammer one of them out and lost one bolt in the tailgate. But definitely the cheapest solution out there without going to an inconvenient, expensive tire carrier.
